Kettles in Hotels in America and Abroad

I drink warm water, and herbal teas throughout the day.
There are a few hotels now that offer a room with a kitchenette, or an apartment unit with a full kitchen including an electrical stove. The location and the length of my trip dictate what kind of room or unit I reserve.
If you have been to a hotel recently, you may have noticed most of them have a coffee pod machine in the room. I have noticed most hotel now offer a kettle by request.
I used to request a kettle. However, every time I opened them up, there was always some gross build up. The buildup is usually from using tap water/ hard water. I have also heard of people putting teabags or boiling eggs in the kettle to "cook" them.
During one of my stays at a popular hotel in Los Angeles, CA, they gave me a kettle with buildup. I took before and after pictures of the kettle. I ended up using the vinegar method to clean the kettle. I sent both before and after pictures to the hotel with a link of the cleaning method and told them no one wants a dirty kettle. I asked them if they would give a plate with dry food bits to a restaurant patron and if the answer was no, why they thought this was okay? They had no answer. They apologized. And on my next stay there, it happened again. This time I didn't clean it, and reported it. They remedied the issue with bringing me hot water every night, problem with that was if the tea came hot and when it cooled down, I had no way of heating up more water.
However, when I go abroad, the kettles are ALWAYS clean. Looking brand spanking new, and some of the hotel chains are American.
So why is it difficult to get a clean kettle here in America? I have no idea.
Now I have a small kettle, I pack with me especially when I travel domestically. During my last international trip, I did not pack the kettle. I somehow knew I would be taken care of with a clean kettle. Don't get me wrong, I still rinse the kettle before using, thankfully it has no crusty buildup.
