Here in the northern hemisphere, we celebrated the winter solstice on

21st December and 10 days later, tomorrow on 31st December, we are suppose to celebrate the new year? Yes, okay, the year changes, and that should be it for now.

Let's separate the the change of the new year and this expectation to be pumping with motivation to start new projects. We are in winter.

Winter is the season to take it slow, and rest.

I used to participate in new year's resolutions on 1st of January, and by end of January, I was struggling to stay on task. Eventually I stopped and started to notice that for whatever reason these two events got smashed together.

Why was I pushing myself to create anew task, or project with energy I didn't have? It really did feel like pouring from a half empty cup. I haven't followed this script for years now.

What is coming up?

Winter:

Dec 21-31st

January, whole month

February, whole month

Spring Equinox:

Mar 20th (for 2026)

From January to March, I slowly start shifting my mindset, recalibrate myself, review my goals and how I want to feel. Then when 20th March lands, I am prepared with my cup full of energy and ready to take on these new projects.

Are you going to approach the winter months differently? How are you going to spend the winter months?
